What is the VIP Bed Race?
Every year, VIP brings local organizations including schools, businesses, and churches together in its largest fundraising event of the year: the Bed Race. Teams of five (one rider and four runners) design, create and build beds on wheels to race–using manpower only–in a competition for awards and prizes. Teams also compete against one another to raise the most money for VIP and to win the Merit Award.
The annual VIP Bed Race takes place on the last Saturday in February at the intersection of 14th Street and Broadway (next to Country’s BBQ on Broad). The racecourse is a straight run along 14th Street from 1st Avenue to Broadway and is approximately 150 yards long.

Registration Deadline to receive a T-Shirt is Friday, February 14th
Registrations can be made until the day of the event

Awards are given for the following:
Susan Scroggs Memorial Merit Award – for the most money raised by a team
Tom Black Memorial Fastest Bed Award – best overall in two heats
Donna Souerwine Memorial Best Theme – most creative theme as determined by local celebrity judges
Heath Jackson Memorial Team Spirit Award – for the team who brings the most fans. Fans must report to the VIP booth to be counted!
Crowd’s Choice – People in the crowd can vote for their favorite bed! $1 per vote.
